Education & Advanced Training

Dr. Matt Cline received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Richmond, followed by his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Maryland Dental School, one of the top clinical dental schools in the nation.

Dr. Cline then completed an elective general practice residency at the University of Virginia, where he served as chief resident and gained advanced training across all areas of dentistry. He practiced general dentistry for several years and was awarded Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor earned by fewer than 10% of dentists. His experience as a general dentist gives Dr. Cline a broader perspective on dental and oral health that continues to inform his approach to orthodontic treatment planning.

Driven to specialize in orthodontics, Dr. Cline completed a three-year specialty residency in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Saint Barnabas Hospital in New York City, where he served as chief resident.

Experience in Orthodontics

Dr. Cline has practiced orthodontics exclusively for more than 10 years and founded All Star Orthodontics in 2014 with a commitment to providing exceptional orthodontic care and a positive patient experience.

Since then, Dr. Cline and the All Star Orthodontics team have treated thousands of patients throughout Central Virginia with braces, Invisalign, and early orthodontic treatment for children, teens, and adults.

Dr. Cline also founded and leads the Richmond Spear Study Club, where local dentists and specialists collaborate, share knowledge, and continue their education with the goal of improving treatment outcomes for their patients.

Dr. Cline and his wife live in the West End with their three children.

Why Board Certification Matters

Board certification is a voluntary achievement that reflects an orthodontist's commitment to continued learning and clinical excellence. Board-certified orthodontists complete additional examinations beyond their dental and orthodontic training and maintain ongoing standards throughout their careers.

As a board-certified orthodontist, Dr. Cline is committed to providing personalized care, advanced treatment planning, and exceptional results for children, teens, and adults throughout Richmond and surrounding communities.
